St Hild’s Business Breakfast: Connecting Our School with the Community

Feb 25, 2025

On 18th February 2025, St Hild’s Church of England School opened its doors to the business community, hosting an inspiring Business Breakfast in the school’s impressive CECA building. The event brought together over 50 local businesses and community groups to explore meaningful collaborations aimed at enriching the educational experience of our pupils.

Debi Bailey, CEO of NEAT Academy Trust, welcomed attendees with an introduction focused on partnership and community engagement. She highlighted how the Trust is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young people, ensuring that all pupils reach their full potential. She also shared the journey of NEAT Academy Trust and how our schools remain deeply connected to its community.

The event featured an engaging workshop led by St Hild’s Headteacher, Sara Crawshaw, which explored careers education and the importance of the Gatsby Benchmarks. Delegates also heard insightful presentations from Alisdair Hill (Robertson) and Alex Nicholson (Darlington Borough Council), who have both worked closely with the school. Their contributions showcased the value of business partnerships in creating opportunities for young people.

A key highlight was an inspiring talk from one of our staff members, Jonathan Gibbon-Hays, Year and Learning Manager at St Hild’s, reflecting on how support from the school and wider community can help shape our pupils’ future. The school’s Careers Ambassadors also played a vital role, facilitating table discussions and guiding visitors on a tour of the CECA building.

This event reinforced the belief that it truly takes a village to raise a child. NEAT Academy Trust is committed to working with local businesses and organisations to provide opportunities and raise aspirations for all pupils. We look forward to building on the relationships formed and welcoming everyone back to our next event in June.
