On Wednesday, 19 February, pupils at Benfield School had the fantastic opportunity to participate in the BBC Bitesize Careers Roadshow. The event, hosted by BBC presenter James Threlfall, gave pupils an insight into real-world career paths and how their school subjects link to future job opportunities.
Three industry professionals from engineering, social media management, and digital communications shared their personal career journeys—many of which weren’t straightforward. They spoke about a typical day in their roles and how they got to where they are today. Pupils asked insightful questions, deepening their understanding of the different career paths available to them.
The event had a significant impact, reinforcing that careers don’t always follow a straight path and that the skills and knowledge gained in school are essential in the workplace.
