Last night, we came together to celebrate the very best of Benfield School at our annual Sports Awards 2025. The event, hosted by our PE Department, brought pupils, families and staff together to recognise the incredible achievements of our young people, on and off the field.
Throughout the evening, we celebrated our Four Benfield Pillars—leadership, Ambition, Community, and Excellence. These values are at the heart of school life, shaping how we grow and recognise character, effort, and determination. There was so much pride, inspiration, and community in one room.
Over 140 sports events have taken place this year so far! From team victories to individual milestones, we’ve seen our pupils grow in confidence, commitment and self-belief.
Award categories included:
- Leadership: Recognition and Co-curricular Awards
- Ambition: Most Progress, Most Dedicated, and Most Resilient Sportsperson
- Community: Team of the Year, Players’ Player, Most Valued Player
Excellence: Sports Person of the Year across Year 7 to Year 11, Outstanding Achievement and Sports Personality of the Year
Our guest speaker, Leodhais Macpherson, inspired the room with his story of resilience. After completing 128 marathons in 128 days in memory of his brother, he reminded us of the power of purpose, speaking openly about loss, mental health, and the strength that comes from talking and sharing.
We were also joined by Benfield alumnus Will Anderson, who returned to present an award—a brilliant reminder of how far our pupils have come since Benfield.
This was more than an awards night. It was a moment of pride, community and celebration.
‘The Benfield Four Pillars aren’t just words – they are what we live by. They guide our expectations and are how we recognise our pupils’ everyday actions and achievements.’
Benfield’s Four Pillars drive the way it recognises and nurtures pupils. This year’s awards demonstrate how strong school culture, positive role models and shared values make a lasting difference.
